What happens in Vegas…stays in Vegas? Not for Jack (Ashton Kutcher) and Joy (Cameron Diaz). Unforeseen circumstances lead two strangers and their personalities in a whirlwind of unforgettable mistakes, mishaps and regrets. Jack, a bachelor scuzz bucket on his finest day, is “let go” from his woodworking job. Worth mentioning: that his boss was his father! Joy, highly organized and sophisticated with a promising career is dumped at her fiancé’s surprise birthday party.
Worth mentioning: that all of their friends were within earshot of this most embarrassing and very awkward moment!
Jack and his best friend Hater (Rob Corddry) decide on moving on by splurging on a trip to Vegas. Joy is accompanied by her best friend Tipper (Lake Bell) to Vegas with the tickets Joy purchased as a birthday gift for her ex-fiance. Can we see the rest is history…not quite!
Following is a comedy that will touch the funny bone of young married couples scene after scene. Multiple laugh out loud moments are contained in this film and some might hit a little close to home!?
Going to Vegas spells disaster for many, but in some rare occasions some seem to “find” themselves.
Jack and Joy meet in unlikely circumstances and personalities become the centerpiece of chaos. Discovering interest in the appealing lifestyles of opposites draws attention to the broken hearted and Vegas begins to take over. Sharing in a binge of sorrows and drinks the party begins to take place and somewhere in the mishaps of the evening Jack and Joy visit a Vegas wedding Chapel! Waking up in the morning came with more than just a headache!
After discussing an annulment and the breakup situation both are on the same page until a quarter reshapes their future. Jack wins a jackpot of $3 million dollars with Joy’s money on a slot machine! Like any marriage on the rocks, finances become a battle and each party wants their share of the fortune. Bearing the ring on her finger was not enough to convince the judge, rather, he mandates marriage counseling and the attempt to make things work.
Gathering her things, Joy heads to Jack’s apartment or shall I say bachelor pad. Each party attempts at sabotaging the other to have full rights and dibs on the money if one bails from the marriage. Getting along might be one of the most difficult tasks of their lives. Differences between man and woman escalate and destroying the other becomes a full fledge mission. Hysterical scenes present themselves and the battle of the sexes is something to enjoy.
All in all the movie is quite predictable, but very well done! The chemistry between Kutcher and Diaz is tremendous and the laughs keep coming from the lead and expansive cast.
While keeping their eyes on the money, they neglected to see what was right in front of them…don’t miss out on such an easy opportunity that lies right beneath your nose!
