Software Company Plans Philip K. Dick Games

Posted by admin On May - 27 - 2008

Prepare to enter the virtual worlds of Philip K. Dick, following the revelation that two games based on the writer’s novels are in the works.

The Halcyon Company, who bought the rights to the Terminator film franchise in 2007, has optioned the rights to the sci-fi writer’s works, which number 44 novels and 120 short stories.

The Guardian piece that covered the news calls the deal a “coup.” “Philip’s daughters have never allowed anyone this kind of access before,” said Halcyon co-CEO Victor Kubicek. “Until we closed the deal we didn’t realize how coveted the library was in Hollywood.”

The piece mentions that the company is planning two games based on Dick’s work, but no word yet on which stories will be adapted. [wired]
