After all the praise he has received for his comedic role in Tropic Thunder, it appears that Tom Cruise is considering a few more options for improving his public image. Having seen that the “serious” version of Tom Cruise is not currently the most palatable one, it seems that he may be turning his attention to a possible role in the upcoming animated movie Shrek Goes Fourth.
According to Cinema Blend, Cruise is currently under consideration to voice one of the villains in the film. (Exactly who that villain might be, no one knows.) At the moment it’s just a rumour, but Dreamworks do have a history of casting big name actors in their animated flicks, so this wouldn’t surprise me one bit. Sometimes it comes at the expense of choosing the right voice for a role, but there’s no denying the fact that celebrity voices = big box office results. Scoring Tom Cruise for the movie would continue the trend of upping the ante with each new Shrek installment, although it doesn’t make me any more interested in the film personally. What it does do is virtually guarantee that Tom Cruise will once again be first in the hearts and minds of soccer moms everywhere. What do you think, is Tom Cruise’s career officially back on track?
