The Littlest Thing Basta un niente 2006 Comedy 86 mins Italian with English subtitles
Monotonous days go by one after the other for the three friends. Peppe, unemployed, who occasionally drives the hearse for the city authorities; Ivo the postman and Rosario the cemetery custodian and dreamer husband of Patrizia, a restless Italian teacher who dreams of a more adventurous life. In their attempt to make ends meet and due to foolish artistic ambitions, they play music in dreary looking clubs. Their music is not well liked, but they keep persisting.
Then suddenly the news: Paolo é Fierro is dead. The local mafia hood, famous for his hold-ups. Or better, actually pretending to be dead to avoid splitting the loot from his latest hit with the local boss. Up to this point nothing seems strange. But on the night of a full moon, in the cemetery, the three friends witness a mysterious and ghastly scene: the Boss, who is a stand offish type and covered in scars, has Paolo é Fierro’s tomb excavated by two maniacs and discovers something he was afraid to. From then on the quiet tranquility of the small town will be tarnished and for the three friends their attempt to change their lives drastically turns them into unlikely robbers. Dare I suggest, not everything will go as planned….
A fun comedy in the vein of Aldo, Giovanni and Giacomo (‘Three men and a leg’). Slapstick humour set in a small town in the Gulf of Naples.
