Ridley Scott Moves back To Science-Fiction

Posted by admin On October - 13 - 2008

Apparently Ridley Scott is looking to science-fiction for his next movie endeavour. He has secured the rights to Joe Haldeman’s novel The Forever War, about an intergalactic battle between Earth and an alien species known as the Taurans. Soldiers enter the fray by using something similar to wormholes, which allow them to cover massive amounts of space in a few seconds. The story sounds like a mash up of Battlestar Galactica and Starship Troopers. The book was written in 1974 and is considered to be based loosely on the author’s experiences in the Vietnam War.

Well given what an abysmal movie Starship Troopers turned out to be I’d just as soon see him re-adapt that book. But i’d be definitely willing to see what he has in store for us with Halderman’s novel.
