Lost Season 4

Posted by admin On December - 2 - 2008

I’ve had a love hate relationship with Lost from the beginning of Season 1. It was hyped up as this great new show, so I decided I’d watch it on TV, I managed to endure the first three episodes before giving up on what appeared to be an over hyped story about some plane crash survivors. For some reason however, when Season 1 came out on DVD I decided to give it another go. This time, without the weeklong wait between episodes I fell in love with Lost and watched the complete season over the course of five days.

When Season 2 was released on DVD, I watched that over the course of a week and couldn’t wait for Season 3 to arrive.

Season 3 however, turned out to be one of the biggest letdowns, with the scrip writers seemingly forgetting everything that had made the previous seasons so great. I still watched it over the course of a week, but only in an effort to try and discover when it was going to start getting good. It managed to pick up in the last couple of episodes, but I wasn’t convinced that Lost was going to last the distance.

Then Season 4 rolled around on TV and I saw a couple of TV promos and read some of the buzz on the net. It seemed like it had got its mojo back and might be worth watching. Then the writer’s strike hit and Lost’s season was truncated. Still, there was enough buzz that when the DVD came out I decided I had to have it.

To say that Season 4 surpassed all my expectations would be an understatement. I watched it over the course of two nights. If it wasn’t for work, I would have gone out and brought a box of energy drinks and watched the entire Season in one go – it was that good. A lot of questions were answered, but new ones relaced them, the conspiracy got bigger and more complex, some people got off the island, but others chose to stay and the rescuers, well they weren’t exactly rescuers.

Of course there were plot holes and a little frustration, but Lost wouldn’t be Lost without it. The season wrapped up nicely with the premise of season 5 pretty much set in concrete – though with Lost you can never be too sure.

So if Season 3 had you worried about the future of Lost, worry no more, Lost is back and better than ever, with all the intrigue, power plays and mystery that made us fall in love with it in the first place.

Roll on Season 5.
