Natasha Richardson is reportedly brain dead.
The 45-year-old British actress – the wife of Liam Neeson, daughter of Vanessa Redgrave and sister of Joely Richardson (Nip/Tuck) – was rushed to hospital on Monday after sustaining a serious head injury while skiing in Canada and has since been flown to New York’s Lenox Hill Hospital.
Liam – who has two children with Natasha, 13-year-old Micheal and 12-year-old Daniel – rushed to be by his wife’s side from Toronto when he learnt of her accident.
Natasha was taking a private beginner’s ski lesson, but fell over when she reached the bottom of the run, hitting her head. She was not wearing a helmet. She stood up immediately and laughed it off, before returning to her room.
An hour later she complained of a bad headache and was taken to hospital. She was later transferred to the intensive care unit, where her condition worsened.
A decision was made to fly her back to New York, where she and Neeson live, so that she can be with family in what could be her final moments.
