“Well it was supposed to be a big secret but there have been rumours floating around about it for ages now. That’s right Sony has a new format PSP coming out called “PSPgo”. They are calling it the new evolution of PSP handheld entertainment system… Of course that just sounds like a bunch of marketing speak…
So I have sourced you some pictures of it to look at and here’s the quick rundown on it.
It has a slider so that when not in use the controls are hidden within it. But here is a cool clock screensaver so you can tell the time when it’s in standby mode.
Gone is the UMD disk drive… PSPgo has got 16 gigabytes of internal memory. It still has the standard Memory Stick slot, wifi and USB connectors but this will also have Bluetooth on it so you can connect PS3 controllers and Bluetooth headsets to it…. Crazy weird fun that. I hear you asking “how do you get the games on to it?” Well it’s simple; you download them direct from the Playstation store. The PSPgo will come bundled with a new software program called “Media go” that will help you manage your music, videos and downloads from your computer to your PSPgo.
It will also have a couple of new features on board such as the ability to pause a game and head back to the main menus and do stuff without having to fully drop out of the game (This feature is called “game sleep”). And there’s this new feature called, “SensMe” which is a mood based music recommendation system that categorises music content into channels such as “Relax”, “Dance” and “Upbeat”. This will of course recommend to you what you should be listening to.
The way Playstation is moving it will not be too long before you will be able to buy downloadable movies and music as well as the already available games via the Playstation store which will make this version of the PSP a very cool and useful device. Let me point out that as they have done in the past the PSPgo will be completely interactive with the Playstation 3 console so you will be able to connect it up and swap media across back and forth… Oh the fun you will have.
Anyway that’s the not so secret update on the new PSP coming out later this year… Start saving your coins in a jar.”
