Pride and Glory
Pride and Glory is another bad cop police drama, this time focusing on a multi-generational family of NYPD officers. Family bonds are the main focus as Ray Tierney investigates a case that puts his brother-in-law slap bang in the middle of a police corruption scandal involving his own brother-in-law. Taking Woodstock
This movie is based on on the delightful memoir of Elliot Tiber ‘s sleepy hometown in mid state New York that gets awoken with arrival of the many hippies et al who made the journey to the infamous Woodstock music festival.
Elliot is back in his hometown of Catskills to try and revive his parents failing El Monaco motel. Despite putting most of his earnings over the past few years into enterprises to keep the motel afloat the bank is wanting to foreclose on monies owed.
Through the local Chamber of Commerce he is granted a permit to stage an outdoor concert as he did the previous year when he played some of his records to some of the locals. Upon reading in the local paper that the Woodstock music festival has virtually been run out of a neighbouring town he naively contacts the organisers to offer his parents motel and land as a possible venue. Things escalate from there. Read the rest of this entry »
Prison Break 4 – The Final Season
The original season of Prison Break was a great concept, but one that was drawn out over far too many episodes. Season 2 was more like convicts on the run, and whilst it was entertaining enough, it just didn’t seem to have the same appeal as the first season. So in Season 3, they all went back to prison. That’s where the Prison Break creators lost me. I wasn’t ready for a re-hashing of Season 1. I gave up on Prison Break after a couple of episodes.
Now, however we have Season 4, subtitled The Final Season. That got my attention. That gave me hope. They were actually going to finish the story, rather than keep bleeding the concept dry until it just ran out of steam. I was intrigued enough to grab the DVD and give it a go. Five days later and I’ve watched all 22 episodes, as well as the movie length special episode. Read the rest of this entry »
