Slacker Uprising

Slacker Uprising isn’t really a Michael Moore documentary. It isn’t as funny, as polished or as revealing as Bowling for Columbine, Fahrenheit 9/11or Sicko. Rather it follows Michael Moore on his 62-city tour during the 2004 American election. We get to witness Moore in his element, preaching to the converted, as well as encouraging the hecklers.

Starting in Elk Rapids, Michigan, in front of an audience of 400, the tour became an overnight success, and even thought the opposition tried increasingly to stop him, Michael Moore’s Slacker Uprising tour just continued to gain momentum.

What Slacker Uprising doesn’t have is more that compensated for by the course of history – we all know hat happened in the 2004 American elections, and though Moore’s tour was both a success and a failure, the record of his campaign to oust George Walker Bush was made freely available (to Americans) online in time for the last Election, where change was effected.

It’s is a timely reminder that people do have power, as long as we remember to keep fighting and not loose heart.
