I’ve heard a lot of people complain that Push was nothing more than a movie length Heroes rip-off. I haven’t seen Heroes so couldn’t comment on any similarities, what I can relate it to however is the film Jumper. Push is the film that Jumper should have been. It’s fun, action packed, has variety and keeps you entertained for it’s entire 107 minute run-time.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to convince you that Push is the best thing since sliced bread, it is after all, just another Hollywood popcorn flick. But it does what it’s supposed to do, and does it well. The only thing that grated me was the annoying character that Dakota Fanning had to play. There are probably a dozen different ways her character could have be portrayed, and each of them would have been much better. Not to worry, as the rest of the cast performed well in there popcorn roles.
All in all, if you reality reality/the laws of physics being distorted, your super-heroes to be ordinary people, and you films to be easy on the brain, then Push will be an entertaining night in.
