The cast forming for the next Bond film could be an intriguing mix if everything falls into place. Earlier this week, we discovered that Javier Bardem was offered an antagonist role, and now rumours are rife that Ralph Fiennes is currently in talks for another “darkly complex” part. The director, Sam Mendes, is said to be pushing the franchise in a darker, more mature, direction which could shake things up a bit. As with Bardem, I’m sure Fiennes’ commitment will depend on the quality of the script, which, according to IMDb, John Logan, Robert Wade, and Neal Pervis have been busy fine-tuning. Mendes and Fiennes have known each other from year’s ago as they worked on stage together, so the potential of them working together again isn’t so surprising. As far as availability, Fiennes has finished his Harry Potter filming, so that should free up some time, right? The casting on Bond 23 has had some exciting potential and in the coming weeks there will probably be even more. But just how dark Mendes is planning on taking Bond is anyone’s guess.
