Easy A, directed by Will Gluck, is a fun movie to watch. With it’s sassy dialogue and ultimately romantic plot line, it makes a great chick flick.
This movie starts off with Olive Penderghast (Emma Stone) telling her best friend, Rhiannon (Ally Michalka) about how shes going out with a fictional community college student called George, who’s friends with her older brother, on the weekend. When she gets back to school on Monday, Rhi wants to know everything. She assumes Olive lost her virginity to ‘George’, and to placate her friend, Olive tells her a little white lie about ‘how it happened’ in the girls bathroom, when Marriane (Amanda Bynes), a gossipy self-acclaimed Christian, exits one of the stalls and tells Olive that she heard everything. The rumour that Olive lost her virginity to ‘George’ spreads around the school faster than wildfire, and soon enough Olive is the new school slut.
I liked the character Olive in this movie, because she realizes that in the end staying true to yourself is what matters the most. A funny thing about Olive’s family is that they all have food names. Her parents are Dill and Rosemary, and her younger brother is Chip, while her older brother is called Cale.
I really enjoyed this movie, because I think it has a good moral to it, and I think people my age need to remember that its not how popular you are that gets you ahead in the end, its staying true to yourself. FILMGUIDE rating: Reviewed by: Hope Bethany
