Nurse Jackie hits season two in full stride, with her marriage on the verge of being destroyed by a jealous jilted lover. But Jackie’s ex lover – and ex pharmacist and drug supplier – has other plans. Rather than outing his lover to her husband, he becomes best buddies with him, making sure he becomes part of family life. It’s a genius move that puts the already flustered Nurse jackie firmly on the back foot.
But Jackie has a lot more on her mind. As fans of season one would already know, along with the aforementioned adultery, Jackie is a junkie, a serial lier and has a child with some serious developmental problems.
But Jackie’s crutches keep her sane, as does breaking every rule possible in order to get her patients the best treatment possible.
Along with her very eccentric team, Nurse Jackie has to deal with all manner of situations, at home as well as at work. But no matter how much of a hospital drama the story-line may want to be, Showtime manage to keep the episodes fats paced and quick witted, with some very dark humour keeping you laughing all the way through.
As with season one, Nurse Jackie will keep you wondering just who you actually like, who is actually doing good and what is going to happen next season. FILMGUIDE rating: Reviewed by: Jonathan
