It’s interesting how far TV has come and how dated looking back actually looks. The first thing I noticed with Earth: Final Conflict is that it’s filmed in the old school ‘square’ format, which is always initially a little distracting. The second thing – and this probably has to do more with my age than anything else – it looks like it was filmed in the 80′s, when in fact it was first screened in 1997 – how time flies!
The premise is pretty simple Early in the 21st century an alien lifeform, the Taelons, arrive on Earth. We humans allow them refuge in return for getting access to their advanced technology. The immediate result being that disease, war and pollution are almost eliminated. However, there are some people who think the Taelons are not as friendly as they seem and a resistance movement forms.
The main character is William Boone (Kevin Kilner), the recently enlisted head of Taelon security, but Boone is really a doube agent for the resistance. Along with billionaire Jonathan Doors, shuttle pilot Lili Marquette and computer hacker Augur, Boone spends his time trying to figure out what the Taelons want and who killed his wife.
